WE THE PEOPLE
The Black Lives Matter protests in New York City were a series of demonstrations. The protests were part of a broader movement across the United States and around the world against police brutality and systemic racism against Black people.
The protests in New York City were largely peaceful, but there were also some incidents of violence and property damage. Demonstrators gathered in various locations across the city, including in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Some of the largest protests took place in Manhattan, where thousands of people marched through the streets chanting slogans and carrying signs.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) was heavily involved in the protests, and there were some reports of excessive force and other abuses by officers. In response, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and the NYPD announced a series of reforms aimed at addressing police misconduct and improving police-community relations.
